Join us for Holy Week
Beginning April 14th, Palm Sunday, we'll gather each evening at 7:00 for Holy Week Reading Services. Copies of Readings for Holy Week, the story of the events leading to the Crucifixion and Resurrection taken from the four Gospels, will be available at each service.
On Maundy Thursday, we'll celebrate the Holy Communion on the anniversary of the night the Savior shared his last meal before his death.
On Good Friday, our Holy Week readings will return us to the Cross. We'll forgo our customary Lovefeast this year, though we look forward to the music being prepared by the choir.
On Great Sabbath observance of Jesus' rest in the grave will draw many of us to God's Acre at 9:00 am to tend the graves of those who have preceded us in death. Our band will play chorales from the copula of the Archives Building in the morning. In the evening, the Great Sabbath Service of Music, sponsored by the twelve churches of Salem Congregation, begins at 7:00 at Home Moravian Church. Drake Flynt, Director Music at King Moravian , will direct a combined choir in music appropriate to the day.
The Easter Sunrise Service will begin Sunday morning, April 17th in the pre-dawn hour on Salem Square. Ginny Hege Tobiassen, Chair of the Salem Congregation Board of Elders, will preside at the service beginning at 6:00 am. The Service will be broadcast live on WSJS Radio and WXII Television.
Our Easter celebration will continue with the 10:00 Resurrection Day Service of worship here at Konnoak Hills.
Current Pandemic Safety Protocols
Face coverings are optional for worship.
Each Sunday School class and group of the church will be asked to decide whether or not to wear face coverings while meeting.
Those who have not been fully vaccinated will be recommended to wear masks indoors.
Some who are fully vaccinated may want to continue wearing masks for various reasons.
Worship participants will continue to sit in every other pew and should sanitize hands on arrival.
This cautious plan considers the large proportion of our active members at higher risk.
Orders are being received for Our Moravian Treasures, a new resource providing basic knowledge about our Moravian faith tradition. While intended for use in Moravian theological training, this book is ideal for anyone looking to understand more about the Moravian Church. A display copy and order sign-up sheet are in the foyer. The cost is $15 per copy. To reduce shipping cost, we plan to place one combined order at the end of April.
You are welcome to join us. Konnoak Hills is easy to find. From Interstate 40 in Winston-Salem, take Hwy 52 South to Clemmonsville Road. Turn Right at the top of the ramp.
Go through one stop light and take either of the next 2 rights (Luther Street or Konnoak Drive). The church is just ahead between the two roads. There is parking on either side.
