Worship Services and Church Events

Sunday Morning Worship at 10:00

Our traditional worship has been described as having a “dignified informality” that many appreciate.  In worship we listen for God through the reading of scripture, the proclamation of the Word, the sharing of responsive readings, the silence of prayer, and the singing of hymns and anthems.  We celebrate the Holy Communion on eight occasions throughout the year.

Sunday School Follows Worship

Adult classes and a children's class meet Sunday mornings shortly after worship.  On the Fifth Sunday of a month, we share a special program or activity relevant to congregational life and interests.

Tuesday at Table

In the Gospels, Jesus is often found at table sharing an experience of the kingdom of God.  On a Tuesday evening each month, we likewise gather for an experience of table fellowship and kingdom life.

After a 6:00 meal, a hunger relief project suitable for all ages and abilities is shared.  In recent months, pinto beans have been repackaged for Sunnyside Ministry, fresh fruit has been bagged for the Konnoak School backpack program, take-away lunches have been assembled for Cities With Dwellings, and letters have been written to Congress as part of Bread for the World's annual Offering of Letters.

Drive-Thru Food Offerings
for Sunnyside Ministry Every Sunday

Approximately 40,000 pounds of non-perishable food has been collected on Sunday mornings since we began receiving weekly food offerings during the Pandemic.  Drive-thru offerings continue each Sunday in the Luther Street parking lot from 11:30 to 12:30,

Primary needs include crackers, cereal, canned meat, canned soup, peanut butter, and canned vegetables.

Donations of any size are needed and appreciate..

Inclement Weather Policy:

In the event of severe winter weather, Sunday worship will not be cancelled. While a modified worship service will be held for those who can reach the church with no extraordinary risk, the Board of Elders strongly discourages travel in snowy or icy conditions. Please use your best judgment in deciding whether to come, considering the possibility that ice or snow may have accumulated on the parking lots and sidewalks in the early Sunday hours. Sunday school classes will be combined when attendance is low due to weather conditions and teachers are asked to call the church when dangerous roads or a threatening forecast prohibits their attendance. Weekday activities will follow the same schedule of cancellation as the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System.
